Dental Crowns in Roanoke

What are Dental Crowns?

Dental crowns are customized prosthetic fittings that dentists use to repair damaged teeth. A crown completely covers a tooth, restoring its natural shape, size, and function. It’s a versatile solution that can address a wide range of dental issues—everything from strengthening a tooth weakened by decay to improving the appearance of a discolored tooth. Crafted from durable materials like porcelain, ceramic, or metal, dental crowns are designed to withstand the rigors of daily chewing and biting, providing a long-lasting solution for a healthier, more beautiful smile.
The Benefits Of Dental Crowns
-
Improved Functionality and Comfort
One of the key benefits of dental crowns is the restoration of tooth functionality. A damaged tooth can make it difficult to chew or bite properly. A crown restores the shape and strength of the tooth, allowing you to eat comfortably. Plus, since each crown is custom-made, it fits perfectly in your mouth, providing optimal comfort.
-
Enhanced Aesthetic Appeal
Dental crowns are not just functional; they’re also aesthetically pleasing. They can be made from porcelain or ceramic that matches the color of your natural teeth, providing a seamless, natural look. Whether it’s a front tooth that’s visible when you smile or a back tooth, a dental crown can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile.
-
Long-Lasting and Durable
Dental crowns are designed to be long-lasting. With proper care and good oral hygiene, a dental crown can last many years, even a lifetime. They’re made from durable materials that can withstand daily use, making them a reliable solution for both restorative and cosmetic dental issues.

The Dental Crown Treatment Process
Step 01
Initial Consultation and Preparation
The journey towards getting a dental crown begins with an initial consultation at Z Dentistry in Roanoke, TX. During this visit, Dr. Z will evaluate your dental health, discuss your goals, and determine if a dental crown is the best solution for you. If a crown is recommended, the tooth in question will be prepared. This involves reshaping the tooth by filing down its outer surface and top to make room for the crown. An impression of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth is then taken. This impression will serve as the model for your custom-made crown.
Step 02
Crown Fabrication
Once the impression of your tooth is taken, it’s sent off to a dental lab, where your custom crown is created. At Z Dentistry, we use only high-quality materials for our crowns to ensure durability and a natural look. While your permanent crown is being fabricated, Dr. Z will fit you with a temporary crown to protect your prepared tooth.
Step 03
Crown Placement
The final step in the process is the placement of your permanent crown. Once your custom-made crown is ready, you’ll return to Z Dentistry for the fitting. Dr. Z will remove your temporary crown and carefully fit your new permanent crown, ensuring it fits comfortably and aligns properly with your bite. The crown is then cemented into place, providing you with a renewed tooth that is strong, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
