Dr. Smith Earns FAGD Award Z Dentistry

Our team at Z Dentistry in Northlake, Texas, is excited to announce that Dr. Zachary R. Smith has obtained his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry! An FAGD dentist obtains this award for completing additional dental education and commits to the highest quality of dental care for their patients.

This award recognizes Dr. Smith’s hard work and dedication to his practice. He will earn an FAGD initial to his name, ranking him highly among his peers and proving his commitment to his patients’ care. Let’s take a look at what the FAGD means for Z Dentistry and you as a valued patient:

AGD Fellowship Award Requirements

To obtain an FAGD, Dr. Smith had to:

  • Maintain current AGD membership for three continuous years
  • Have a dental license that has not been suspended or revoked within the past five years and is not currently under probation, suspension, or revocation
  • Pass the AGD Fellowship Exam
  • Complete 500 hours of approved CE
  • Attend the AGD Convocation Ceremony, held during the AGD Scientific Session, where he will receive the award

What This Means for You

By pursuing the AGD Fellowship Award, Dr. Smith has distinguished himself as a stand-out professional in his field. AGD members are devoted to continuing their dental education and developing their skills as general dentists. When you visit Dr. Z, you can rest assured that you’re in the best care possible for your smile. Everything we do at Z Dentistry, from cosmetic to restorative work, is in the best interest of our patients and their oral health needs.

The real benefit to the FAGD for patients is that it proves Dr. Smith has taken extra time and steps to complete a plethora of continuing education. He is always in the know with the latest and most remarkable techniques, equipment, and technology. In turn, he can provide patients with the best and latest research-based practices.

Completed Courses

By completing the course for prevention and management of anatomical complications, Dr. Smith understands dental implant placement and how to manage difficulties and can identify critical anatomical structures to avoid complications. He can also locate the submental, sublingual, and posterior lateral nasal arteries as part of his learning objectives. Dr. Smith is also educated in restoring endodontically treated teeth, understanding biological, mechanical, and esthetic reasons for restoration. This means he can determine the restorability of a tooth requiring endodontic treatment and improve the clinical situation with his studied techniques. This allows him to provide patients with direct or indirect methods of restoring endodontically treated teeth and explain each treatment’s advantages and disadvantages.

Committed to Excellence

By 2021, Dr. Zachary Smith qualified for his Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry by completing a rigorous examination and completing over 500 hours of continuing education since his graduation, well above the 24 hours required by the state. Our family at Z Dentistry is proud to see his hard work and dedication in this dental practice and know that our patients are in great hands.
