When looking into smile makeovers, it’s important to know what your desired outcome will be. Do you have missing teeth or simply a cracked tooth? Is your smile not as white as you’d like it to be? Cosmetic and restorative dentistry comes with many types of smile makeover options. Which treatments you choose will depend on your specific goals and make-up of your teeth.
What types of smile makeover treatments are there?
Your cosmetic dentist will correct your smile in the best way possible. Candidates for a smile makeover can choose from teeth whitening, straightening, dental implants, and more. Let’s take a look at 3 common smile makeover treatments and what they’re designed to achieve:
- Teeth Whitening
- Invisalign
- Tooth Implants
1) Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is one component of a smile makeover that can leave your teeth brighter and lighter! We have two options for patients:
- Quick results option – You will start the whitening process in our office with two 30-minute interval applications. Dr. Smith will use a high-powered, professional bleach material while being monitored for sensitivity. You will leave that day with whiter, brighter teeth! However, the work doesn’t stop there. In order to maintain a lighter shade, you will take home a kit with custom trays to apply the bleach yourself overnight.
- Low and slow option – If you don’t need instant results, this option is the best for you. We will make custom trays that perfectly fit your teeth, which you will wear overnight for 4-6 weeks or until the desired results are achieved. Afterwards, most patients need about one night per month or maintenance whitening.
During your teeth whitening visit with Dr. Z, you’ll learn which option is best for your specific needs.
2) Invisalign
There’s no better way to make your smile shine than to straighten with Invisalign. There are no metal, wires, or brackets involved! Invisalign uses a unique plastic material combined with strategically planned movements, tooth attachments, and selective slenderizing to move your teeth in a predicable way. Depending on your case, treatment can take anywhere from 3-24 months.
3) Tooth Implants
Tooth implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth with natural-looking and functioning teeth. This procedure is done with FDA-approved titanium screws placed into the jawbone. While it may sound frightening, it’s actually less invasive than having a tooth removed. For some patients, dental implants are a better tooth replacement option than dentures because they function similarly to real teeth. And, implants can’t ever get cavities!
